Materials
- 4 balls of DK weight yarn in your desired color
- US size 6 (4mm) knitting needles
- US size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
- 3 buttons
- Pompom maker (optional)
Gauge
- 22 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on US size 6 (4mm) needles
Abbreviations
- CO - cast on
- K - knit
- P - purl
- K2tog - knit two stitches together
- P2tog - purl two stitches together
- BO - bind off
Pattern
Jacket
Back
- CO 60 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K all rows for 10 inches.
- BO all stitches.
Front
- CO 60 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K all rows for 6 inches.
- Divide the stitches in half. Knit the first 30 stitches for the left front and the remaining 30 stitches for the right front.
- On the right front only, k2tog at the beginning of the next 4 rows. (This will create the buttonholes.)
- K all rows for 4 inches.
- BO all stitches.
Sleeves
- CO 30 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K all rows for 6 inches.
- Increase 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 4 rows. (This will create 8 stitches.)
- K all rows for 8 inches.
- BO all stitches.
Hood
- CO 60 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K all rows for 6 inches.
- Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 6 rows. (This will create 48 stitches.)
- K all rows for 4 inches.
- BO all stitches.
Assembly
- Sew the shoulder seams of the back and front pieces together.
- Sew the sleeves to the body of the jacket.
- Sew the hood to the neckline of the jacket.
- Sew the buttons to the right front of the jacket.
Hat
Brim
- CO 100 stitches with US size 8 (5mm) needles.
- K1, *P1, K1* repeat to end of row.
- Repeat row 2 for 3 inches.
Crown
- Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 6 rows. (This will create 88 stitches.)
- K all rows for 2 inches.
- Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 12 rows. (This will create 64 stitches.)
- K all rows for 1 inch.
- Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 16 rows. (This will create 32 stitches.)
- K all rows for 1 inch.
- BO all stitches.
Pompom (optional)
- Wrap yarn around a pompom maker 100 times.
- Cut the yarn end and tie it around the loops on the pompom maker.
- Remove the pompom maker and trim the yarn to your desired length.
Assembly
- Sew the sides of the hat together.
- Attach the pompom to the top of the hat.
Trousers
Leg 1
- CO 40 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K all rows for 6 inches.
- Increase 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 4 rows. (This will create 48 stitches.)
- K all rows for 8 inches.
- BO all stitches.
Leg 2
- CO 40 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K all rows for 6 inches.
- Increase 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 4 rows. (This will create 48 stitches.)
- K all rows for 8 inches.
- BO all stitches.
Waistband
- CO 100 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
- K1, *P1, K1* repeat to end of row.
- Repeat row 2 for 2 inches.
Assembly
- Sew the sides of the legs together.
- Sew the waistband to the top of the legs.
Finished Measurements
- Jacket: 12 inches wide, 14 inches long
- Hat: 16 inches circumference, 6 inches deep
- Trousers: 18 inches long, 10 inches wide at the waist
