Abbreviations

  • CO - cast on
  • K - knit
  • P - purl

Pattern

Jacket

Back

  1. CO 60 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K all rows for 10 inches.
  3. BO all stitches.

Front

  1. CO 60 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K all rows for 6 inches.
  3. Divide the stitches in half. Knit the first 30 stitches for the left front and the remaining 30 stitches for the right front.
  4. On the right front only, k2tog at the beginning of the next 4 rows. (This will create the buttonholes.)
  5. K all rows for 4 inches.
  6. BO all stitches.

Sleeves

  1. CO 30 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K all rows for 6 inches.
  3. Increase 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 4 rows. (This will create 8 stitches.)
  4. K all rows for 8 inches.
  5. BO all stitches.

Hood

  1. CO 60 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K all rows for 6 inches.
  3. Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 6 rows. (This will create 48 stitches.)
  4. K all rows for 4 inches.
  5. BO all stitches.

Assembly

  1. Sew the shoulder seams of the back and front pieces together.
  2. Sew the sleeves to the body of the jacket.
  3. Sew the hood to the neckline of the jacket.
  4. Sew the buttons to the right front of the jacket.

Hat

Brim

  1. CO 100 stitches with US size 8 (5mm) needles.
  2. K1, *P1, K1* repeat to end of row.
  3. Repeat row 2 for 3 inches.

Crown

  1. Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 6 rows. (This will create 88 stitches.)
  2. K all rows for 2 inches.
  3. Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 12 rows. (This will create 64 stitches.)
  4. K all rows for 1 inch.
  5. Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 16 rows. (This will create 32 stitches.)
  6. K all rows for 1 inch.
  7. BO all stitches.

Pompom (optional)

  1. Wrap yarn around a pompom maker 100 times.
  2. Cut the yarn end and tie it around the loops on the pompom maker.
  3. Remove the pompom maker and trim the yarn to your desired length.

Assembly

  1. Sew the sides of the hat together.
  2. Attach the pompom to the top of the hat.

Trousers

Leg 1

  1. CO 40 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K all rows for 6 inches.
  3. Increase 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 4 rows. (This will create 48 stitches.)
  4. K all rows for 8 inches.
  5. BO all stitches.

Leg 2

  1. CO 40 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K all rows for 6 inches.
  3. Increase 1 stitch at the beginning and end of the next 4 rows. (This will create 48 stitches.)
  4. K all rows for 8 inches.
  5. BO all stitches.

Waistband

  1. CO 100 stitches with US size 6 (4mm) needles.
  2. K1, *P1, K1* repeat to end of row.
  3. Repeat row 2 for 2 inches.

Assembly

  1. Sew the sides of the legs together.
  2. Sew the waistband to the top of the legs.

Finished Measurements

  • Jacket: 12 inches wide, 14 inches long
  • Hat: 16 inches circumference, 6 inches deep
  • Trousers: 18 inches long, 10 inches wide at the waist
